American Education WeekAmerican Education Week was first celebrated nationally in 1947. It was felt that observance of this event provided Iota Phi Lambda a public forum for stressing the educational aims of the sorority and for initiating or participating in programs to promote excellence in education. Alpha Xi’s activity for American Education Week is to sponsor an Essay Contest for middle and high school students. The title for the essay is the theme selected yearly by the American Education Association. Winners of our local contest are submitted to the Iota’s National Essay Contest.
